Carmel Honeymoon. June, 1985.

Humanity.

No better word describes Marianne’s ability to show love, compassion and kindness. To all.

It was her greatest trait; as a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a human. She treated everyone, everywhere, in the same manner, outgoing and confident, and that led to the most beautiful mixture of friends and acquaintances.

UCSF.

As many of you know, Marianne fought metastatic breast cancer for 6 1/2 years. Under the care and expertise of Dr. Michelle Melisko at the UCSF Medical Center, she was essentially gifted 6 1/2 years of additional life to experience a marriage (Tom and Alejandra), a grandson (Jaylen), travel, and countless family memories. The weekly routine of chemotherapy, blood tests, scans and doctor visits became her “ full time job” and she executed it with strength and dignity. The nurses who cared for her were inspired weekly. The valet parking attendants broke into grins when she drove up.

Dr. Melisko’s guidance and care allowed Marianne to spend her final months and days peacefully at home, with family and friends.

Marianne donated her body to the UCSF Willed Body Program and this gift to medical education will help a new generation of physicians.

Friends.

Marianne made friends so easily, and touched so many lives. As a friend, please remember her in your heart and carry on her traits of kindness, no judgement, empathy and compassion. They all help the world run more smoothly.

Family.

Her loving, caring, teaching and constant contact with Tom and Alejandra, Evan, Trevor and Jaylen ensured that her offspring will continue to flourish. Her love and devotion as a wife to Albert was unmatched. A loving, close-knit family is her legacy.

Celebration.

Marianne did not wish to have a celebration of life. We think this website is the easiest way to share the stories of her friendship circles from San Diego, Stanford, Stockton, San Francisco and Maui. Please share! If we choose to have a physical Celebration of Life it will most likely be in the spring. We’ll keep everyone posted.
